7seera و T9seera

Nabila Halim

For the first evening of 7seera و T9seera, the phrase that will guide us through the four evenings is:

Anger, I flee from you. Anger, I dwell in you.

Each evening, a group of 15 people gathers, united by music, a topic of conversation, and a tajine. The evening is guided by the group itself. For the first gathering, we ask you to bring music that evokes the word "anger." Each participant selects at least two music tracks, in any format (USB stick, CD, Vinyl, ...). If you only have the titles and not the music itself, you can send the titles by April 10 to photo.nalim@gmail.com

By collectively listening to the chosen music and engaging in the conversations it sparks, a playlist with multiple voices will emerge, unfolding as a new story about anger (and, more broadly, about words, sounds, and collective emotions).

The evening: The evening begins with the shared ritual of preparing a tajine. We cut the vegetables, gather the vegetarian ingredients, and create a meal that connects our hands and senses.

The cooking time of the tajine (1.5 to 2 hours) sets the duration for the conversations that unfold around the music fragments we listen to. Each note, each word, weaves into the evening’s atmosphere, until we gather at the table for a shared meal. A meal soaked in anger that brings us closer together. Friendly anger.

The space is set with colorful 7seera rugs, a small table, and mobile tajines with their charcoal brazier. A CD player, MP3 player, and turntable are connected to speakers and a mixing board.
We will sit on the rugs, barefoot, and chairs will also be available for the comfort of everyone.

The music and conversations will be recorded for a radio program and podcast to be released later this year, in collaboration with the collective TUBA.

Registration is per evening, the three dates are: April 12, June 14, and July 5. Participation is only possible once, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be part of this special evening.

The reference language is French, but Dutch, English, and Darija are also welcome.

Listening is an action that not only brings bodies close, but can dissolve separation. Because when we listen we participate in making the sound we attend to.
