Prof. Dr. Mena B. Lafkioui is both Full Professor at the Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris, where she holds the Chair of Amazigh linguistics, and Research Director at Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. Her research interests and projects involve linguistics, sociolinguistics, geolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, and everything concerning North Africa and the Amazigh languages and cultures.
Her residency by Moussem is part of her project on TARIFIT ARTISTRY in which, in addition to her academic research, Lafkioui wishes to further deepen her early artistic practice in the form of poetry, drawing, and sculpture. Tarifit refers to the Tamazight language of the Rif (North, Northwest, and Northeast Morocco); Tamazight being a language family of about forty languages practiced in North Africa and its diaspora.
