Am I Evil? Talk: Gabriela Wiener
June 8 (5 PM - 7 PM)
Am I Evil? and Moussem are pleased to invite you to join a special moment of listening and collective reflection on the decolonisation of desire, histories of bodies and museum collections.
In the framework of her visit to the group of participants of Am I Evil? Brussels edition, Gabriela Wiener reads excerpts from her book Huaco Retrato, Undiscovered in English, where she explores not only the (possible) colonial history of her family tree but also the legacy of it, and the traces that this legacy leaves in the collective memory of different cultures, in her body, her sexual/amorous relations. How can these traces be recognised, appropriated and transformed?
The reading of excerpts from her book will become an occasion to talk about Gabriela Wiener's writing/research practice, and to listen to questions from the audience.
Duration: 2 h (from 5 PM until 7 PM)
Language: Spanish with live translation into English
Free of charge but registration required via this link

On the curators of Am I Evil?
Simone Basani (IT/BE) is a curator, dramaturg and artist. His research focuses on participatory strategies and remembrance processes that have been or could be activated from a decolonial perspective. The main outputs of this research are curatorial, often context-specific formats, through which he invites other practitioners to collaborate.
Alice Ciresola (IT/BE) is an independent curator based in Brussels. Her research revolves around strategies of material and immaterial heritage re-readings through site-specific, decolonial, and feminist (art) practices. She is also interested in investigating the boundaries between public and museum spaces.
