The Lazy Men’s Refuge. Trans-Architecture on the misogynistic and racist paradigm of the Tropical Bungalow. Bending lines, corners, steel…

The Lazy Men’s Refuge explores the evolution of colonial architecture in the interwar period to manage social groups. During the lecture-performance, Roland Gunst will focus on female figures, their different positions, interactions and dependencies, and how they appear in the choreography of dialogues and movements set around the concept of the tropical bungalow veranda.

Roland Gunst, aka John K Cobra, is a self-taught conceptual artist, cineast and musician of Belgian-Congolese (D.R.C.) origin, dividing his time between Belgium and South Africa. From an autobiographical perspective he experiments with the potential of the hybrid identity and Afro-European narratives, deeply inspired by the concept of Afropeanism.
