Youness Atbane presents a new chapter of his project The Waterproofed Artist. In it he questions the influence of postcolonial theory on artistic practice and the dominant impact of art institutions. Employing fiction and futuristic imagination rooted in real events, Atbane seeks to construct a vision of what he coins ‘Post Decolonial Art’. Youness Atbane’s artistic practice embraces a wide array of media to explore the relationship between live performance and static visual objects. How do they interact, and what space exists between these different disciplines? The performance will be preceded by a short introduction by Marion Slitine and will be followed by a talk during which the artist - together with Joachim Ben Yakoub - will reflect on the concept of interdisciplinary work and the hybrid approach typical of his artistic practice.
