+ conversation: Does an Artwork Exist Before It Is Made?
tickets
In Naked Journey, Youness Khoukhou explores a recurrent question in his practice as a dancer and choreographer: what is the body, beyond ‘references’ of colour and origin, beyond a style and inherited codes, beyond the culture and trends that form it? In the making of this performance, the artist is searching for a place where the transition from everyday life to performance is fluid, where the boundaries between being and performing are negotiated, between the language of the body and that of words, and between looking and experiencing. Within this space, he embraces the unexpected that comes with it.
on 14.10, Naked Journey is followed by:
Does an artwork exist before it is made? (talk / conversation)
Following the performance, Youness Khoukhou will engage in a conversation with artist and researcher Lucia Palladino about intuition and spontaneity as a vital force in artistic work.Suppose the essence of a work of art already exists and is only waiting to be revealed by the artist. How does the rational conceptual approach in the artistic process relate to that which arises intuitively, spontaneously or takes place at an unconscious level.. How does the creator deploy his ability to truly 'hear' and understand the deep, authentic aspects of artistic creation?
