The Lebanese oud player Rabih-Abou Khalil worked with three prominent internationa musicians for his most recent CD, Hungry People. He performs on stages all over the world, treating his audience to lively humour-filled concerts. The unusual combination of the oud, the saxophone, the accordion and percussion creates a unique sound. It is difficult to summarise their style with one word as it is neither jazz, nor fusion jazz or oriental music but a mix of all three. Consequently Rabih Abou-Khalil constantly tests the boundaries of the classical oud and has succeeded in carving out a niche for it in contemporary music.
